Lake Naivasha Country Club opened in 1937 as a staging post for Imperial Airways' flying boat service from Durban to London. The 55-acre property boasts green lawns shaded by mature acacias and spreading fever trees that stretch down to the lake's shore. The club offers a wonderful mix of tranquility in serene surroundings and a varied number of sporting activities for both the energetic and the more laid back. Lake Naivasha is the focus of activity but the abundant birdlife and several activities in the area mean there is never a shortage of things to do.

The hotel is located just over an hour`s drive from Nairobi. The fresh water lake, some 13 kilometres across, is a haven for bird watchers, nature lovers and artists, or those seeking a peaceful retreat.
There is a choice of rooms, cottages or suites, all of which are furnished with their own individual theme. Rooms have private bathroom facilities and mosquito nets. The lake cottage has 2 bedrooms and sitting room and a lake view.
Number of rooms:
- 46 twin rooms
- 5 cottage rooms
- 1 executive lake cottage
Room Decor: the old comfortable architecture is solid and comfortable with a variety of accommodation in rooms and cottages facing the rolling lawns and the lake.
The public rooms are elegant and cool. The residents` lounge has a massive fire place and a large bay window. The bar is cosy and adjoins the snooker room. Lunch can be taken al fresco beneath the shade of the magnificent acacia trees and guests can look forward to a home-grown dinner prepared from only the freshest of lakeside ingredients.
Dining Room: the 100-seat dining room with its attractive timber ceiling is on two levels and is situated in the main building overlooking the garden. Windows on three sides give guests an excellent view of the gardens leading down to the lake.
Flamingo Bar: a full range of spirits, juices and liqueurs are served at the bar, as is red and white Naivasha Wine from nearby vineyards. The bar is open from 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.
Lake Lawns Relaxation: chairs and tables are arranged under the enormous shady yellow fever acacia trees. Here guests may order drinks or coffee whilst watching the numerous birds.
Pool Bar: open between 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m., this bar serves snacks from a small menu between meal times.
Swimming Pool: the pool area is enclosed with its own garden and children's pool. Showers, toilets and a bar are also incorporated into this shaded area, as are chairs, tables and sun beds.
Verandah View: the wide verandah running along the front of the bar in the main building overlooks the gardens. With leather and limed wood chairs and marble-topped tables, the verandah exudes an elegant and fashionable air.
Snooker Room: this adjoins the Flamingo Bar and houses a full sized snooker table.
Residents Lounge: this large comfortable room with its enormous fireplace, tasteful furniture and warm colors gives the feeling of being in a family living room. The lounge is open to watch TV or video, and also has a card table and backgammon for guest use. Board games are also available from the reception.
The hotel is located in 55 acres of lakeside gardens, green lawns shaded by mature acacia and spreading fever trees. The hotel began life in the 1930s as papyrus thatched chalets. Although the current accommodation is a far cry from the original structure, it has not lost any of its charm.
The hotel has a swimming pool.
Meeting Facilities - The fully equipped conference room is set away from the main buildings in the garden adjacent to the swimming pool. The room opens out into a verandah and beyond; the gardens create a perfect setting for a coffee break or cocktail party for up to 100 people. Ideal for groups and small incentive parties, a full bar can be accommodated on board and cocktails and canap?s served.
Bird watching - Naivasha has the highest concentration of Fish Eagle in the world and over 300 species of birds have been sighted on and around the lake. The guides have a wide knowledge of the birds and their habits.
Crescent Island - This is a private game sanctuary, which is home to zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats and giraffe. The island is less than a 15 minute boat ride from the hotel. There are no fences and no predators and it is one of the few places in the world where one can wander on foot amongst the animals.
